Effect of moringa foliage supplementation on in vitro ruminal gas production kinetics and substrate degradation in cattle

This study explored the influence of moringa (Moringa oleifera; MO) foliage supplementation on in vitro ruminalgas production kinetics and substrate degradation cattle. In fermentation was carried out with twotypes substrates, viz. wheat straw (WS) WS plus concentrate mixture (CM; 60:40) cattle rumen inoculum.The MO incorporated to both substrates at 0, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40 50% levels total dry matter. Thesubstrates were incubated up 24 h measured. The gas kineticswas performed 8 different (0, 40, 50 100%) incubatedat 3, 6, 9, 12, 24, 36, 48 72 h. addition increased volume (ml/200 mg) level,though, it analogous when CM based used. truly degradable organic matter (TDOMR) from 10% onwards. microbial biomass (MBP) partitioning factor (PF) higher 30% onwards levels. Addition onwards, however, cumulative control (CON). potential (b) for CON than substrates. Fractional rate (c) 10 100% half time (t1/2) substantially reduced supplementation. t1/2 significantly lower 30%. TDOMR amongst treatments, MBP PF level relative 20% Hence, may be deduced that cereal straw-based considerably improved production, fractional fermentation, TDOMR, inoculum.
